Sonic Boom Community Rules
The Basics
Be respectful to others. Do not start drama on the site. We understand that you will not be best friends will every member on the site, but at the same time try to be courteous to others and do not start fights. If you have a problem with others, take it to PM or off-site to resolve it or bring it to the attention of an admin if you feel it is serious enough.
Try to be acitve. We would appreciate it if you tried to be active. However, we all have individual lives and we understand that things can come up and you may not have time to post or get online. If you are having to take time away from the site, we ask that you inform an admin and anyone you may be roleplaying with so that they are aware of your inactivity. If you are inactive for more than two months, and have not informed an admin of your hiatus, we will delete your account here.
Be appropriate. As part of proboard's rules, Sonic Boom is PG-13. Violence and most cursing is acceptable. Don't be afraid to be gorey if you wish! Any sexual interactions between characters will likely result in an immediate ban from the board. While romantic relationships are allowed on the site, there will be absolutely no sexual activity on the boards. Remember there are younger members on the board and others may be offended by it.
Do not steal. You are not allowed to post stolen art or characters on the site. With several admins being artists, we are incredibly serious about this rule.
All site rules must be followed in the chatbox. Be respectful to members and non-members, no drama, keep chat PG-13.

Roleplaying Guidelines
You must be at a semi-literate to literate level to roleplay here. Sorry to those who are not as skilled in roleplaying, but Sonic Boom is for quality roleplays and roleplayers.
Canon characters are allowed! While some people enjoy roleplaying as fan characters, others enjoy being canon characters. This is perfectly acceptable on this site. However, in order to play as a canon character you must first apply for your chosen character. Of course we're not asking you for a bio on the character, but rather we'd like to see just how good you are at roleplaying the character. Please supply us with a sample of your roleplaying ability (preferably as the character you're trying out as). The better your skill level, the more likely you'll be accepted. Once a canon character is taken by a member, it cannot be used by anyone else until the member quits the site or is removed.
You must submit a character application for each non-canon character. In order for you to use a character on the roleplay boards, it must first be accepted as a character application. From there, it will be moved to character profiles. Once there, you are allowed to roleplay! We have the right to decline any applications. Likely, if we have any problems with your app, we will address said problem and allow you to edit it if you would still like to submit the character. Once you are done, the application will be considered again.
Try to be as descriptive and have correct grammar and spelling in your roleplaying posts! Sonic Boom is a semi-literate to literate board. While we want you to have fun while you roleplay, we would like you to keep your posts up to this standard. It is acceptable that you will not always have long posts in your roleplays, but at least try to make an effort in your replies (perhaps at the least, 3 sentences per post).
No G-Modding. You are not allowed to control the actions of another character or decide when they lose in a battle. No auto-hits. Try to be fair to everyone. At the same time, do not make your character ridiculously overpowered or make attacks against them unfairly miss or ineffective. If your character is undefeatable, you're being unfair. If someone is G-Modding, we ask that you either report it to an admin or talk it over with the member at fault. Do not counteract someones G-Modding with your own G-Modding. This means that you are breaking the rules as well. Repeated offenses of this rule will result in your account being banned.
You may have multiple characters per account. If you are roleplaying as multiple characters, all we ask is that you have the appropriate profiles for each one for other members to refer back to when roleplaying with you. All that is asked of you is that you try to keep up with your characters. If we feel that you are going a bit overboard with your amount of characters, we will likely ask you to stop making new characters or exchange new ones for older ones. As long as it does not become an issue, there will not be a limit on characters.
Relationships with canon characters. Any sort of romantic relationships between fan characters and canon characters is not allowed. Canon characters may only be in relationships with other canon characters, and fan characters may only be in relationships with fan characters. However, flirting between fan characters and canon characters are allowed as long as they are executed in a way that does not break their character. Any family relationships between canons and non-canons are not allowed. Your non-canon character cannot be a canon character's son, daughter, aunt, brother, sister, parent, etc. Friendships between canon characters and fan characters are perfectly acceptable. If you wish to have your friendship with a canon already established(as in, you will not have to build a relationship with said character, it will already exist), you must first make sure that it is okay with the member who is playing the canon character. Same goes with any rival/enemy relationships.
Make your character original/Try not to compare your character's abilities to a canon character's. An example of this is: _____ is as fast/faster than Sonic. While this is a rather cliche example, it is one that plenty of roleplayers see. Do not make your character a clone of a canon character.
Try to develop your characters through roleplay. While not everyone wants to roleplay to develop their characters, a lot of people do and devote a lot of time and effort to it. Developing characters is incredibly important at Sonic Boom, as it can make roleplays more enjoyable and meaningful. We encourage that you start serious roleplays that will promote development, as opposed to roleplays that have little or no effort in plot or anything that may help a roleplay and characters thrive. This means no 'sleepover, spin-the-bottle'-esque roleplays.
Rules for Signatures and Avatars
Signatues may not have a width that exceeds 475px or a height that exceeds 200px. Make sure that your signature is appropriate. We suggest that you have a link to each of your character's profiles in your signature.
Avatars need to be 100x100. Make sure your avatar is appropriate.
Avatars need to be 100x100. Make sure your avatar is appropriate.
Be aware that the rules can change at any time! If important changes are made, it will appear on the 'update' sidebar to alert members. Once you begin posting on the site, you are responsible for your actions and must abide by these rules.
