Emerald was terrified, she started to cry. "No! This must be some mistake! I-I didn't mean to enter here, I swear it, I tripped!" Then, she thought in her head. {Chaos help me, I don't want to die. Please, I never even got to marry. I'm too young to get murdered!} Tears rolled down her cheek as she cried out for help but never got any.

They moved towards Drake, a large mass of them "Get down on the ground! Why are you here! Doesn't anyone fucking avoid danger and the threat of a painful demise?" one hissed as he went to take his blade and level it with drake's throat "Fucking stupid boy... Can we kill this one boss?" he asked the one with the helmet who shook his head "No. If we kill him it will only draw suspicion we don't need at the moment."
The ones that had Emerald down smirked "There is no mistake." he hissed "You entered here no matter what and now your going to suffer the consequence." he snapped as he opened his mouth, his fangs getting slightly longer before he went to stick them into her neck.

Drake growled irritably. "I'm not stupid! I was--" he was cut off when he noticed the blade leveled with his neck, falling silent. He looked at the bats, teeth gritted. His eyes glanced over to the girl near him who was also surrounded by bats. Was she the one he saw fall into the crater previously? She seemed to be in just as bad of a bind as he was. He looked back to the bat with the helmet who appeared to be in charge. "What do you plan on doing with me then?" Drake questioned, though he wasn't particularly eager to hear the answer.

[Aaaand here I come]
Suddenly, the command "Go!" was heard from out above. The tightest gathering of bats was targeted by a grenade launcher, the round striking the center of the group. Rounds rained down from above, along with machine gun fire from someone coming down the wall near where the 2 civillians were being held.

The ferret looked over at where all the firing was going on. She didn't care who they were, she was just glad she's still alive, for now. She then kicked one of the bats in the groin and he fell to the ground. She then got up, pulled out a dagger, and said "Alright, time to get to the bottom of this!"
Meanwhile, Spike, Ken, and Angie were still waiting outside. "Shall we close it up yet?" Angie asked. "Nah, not yet. Let's give them at least another hour." Ken said as he looked over at the crater. Then, Spike saw a vine on the ground. "Hey, I got an idea." Spike said.
About five minutes later, Spike had the vine tied around his waist and Ken and Angie were holding on to it. "Alright, when I tug, pull me out. Okay?" He said. Ken and Angie nodded. Spike then jumped in with the vine tied around him, ready to see what's going on inside.

Drake was the only one who didn't move. Having a knife to his throat made it somewhat difficult for him to move a single muscle without risking being beheaded. No, he stayed where he was, trying his best to also stay on the creatures' good side by not fighting back. Plus, he didn't really know who was attacking and couldn't trust that they were truly capable of defeating these bats. He did flinch quite a bit from the gunfire and explosions, however, recoiling slightly. He could only hope these people were smart enough to not injure him in the process of rescue.

As the sudden attack occurred, the bat prepared to slice drake's throat but a round knocked him to the side. Leaving an opening for him to be brought down, the bats turned to their new attackers and opened fired with bullets, magic, and steel. They were rather resilient. Even with their armor, injuries seemed less effective on them. It became clear very quickly that these bats didn't fear physical injury. They shrugged off bullet wounds unless they were shot in the brain or the heart.
They hissed and many of them began to warp around in trails of black smoke and some vanished into forms of mist and bats. The one with the helmet didn't even seem worried as he simply side stepped bullets with inhuman speed. There was only one factor that could come down to how these creatures were so resilient and powerful. They were supernatural, some factor of them evil and twisted.
But they were vampires and the sun didn't have any bacon sizzle effect on them... the pieces had to be put together though on how they could resist the sunlight in the crater. The ones around Emerald would hiss and grin, aiming guns and magic at her and attacking all at once.
Finally when one of the three entered the crater the vine would go slack as it was cut by a eagle eyed shot. Casing Spike to slide down the smooth as glass crater wall into the fight.

These soldiers came prepared for this fight.
As he came down the wall, a husky peppered the swarming bats that had taken to the air (If I read that right) with a belt-fed machine gun, with a small energy shield being projected from his left upper arm to take most of the incoming fire.
From above, the launcher-toting fox fired a flashbang round into Emerald's group, dropping down after it would detonate. The launcher would have to be loaded before he could use it, and so switched to his shotgun.

"Cute, they fancy themselves heroes." he muttered as the flashbang did nothing but blind a few of them for a moment. Flashbangs were not anti-vampire as some people did believe. Those in the air were knocked down but most of them got back up and shrugged off the non-fatal wounds they had suffered. One of them flew up to one of the islands and actually threw it at the husky with the LMG.
The fox would find himself suddenly with his hands full as the one with the helmet began to make his way towards him. He was simply zipping side to side, evading a great deal of fire.

Drake took his chance and pulled out his dagger, jumping onto the bat that was down and stabbing it right through the heart. "That was for nearly killing me..." he muttered before jumping off and moving away from the rest of the preoccupied bats. Drake didn't have any fancy guns or anything of the sort, so he knew he didn't stand a chance against this army. He could see based on his observations that these things could only be defeated through fatal blows, and nothing on him, aside from his knife, was capable of that kind of attack. Close combat was a bit too risky for him, so instead he slunk silently along the edges of the crater in search of some sort of escape route.

"Well, what should we do now?" Angie pondered as she noticed the vine broke. "Wait a minute, I got an idea." Ken said. He then pulled out a very thin fibre-glass cable. It was almost invisible. Only if one could look hard enough would it be noticeable. Plus, it was really strong. Ken wrapped it around his waist and jumped in. He ran over to get the others, trying to hopefully get them out.

There was just too many bats to go perfectly unnoticed, two dagger wielding bats jumped down in front of drake and hissed at him. Fangs presented and daggers ready as they began to advance on him "You will die for this!" one snapped while the other formed a green handful of fire.
As they once more attempted to repel they striped once more to shoot the fiber, this one a bit stronger they turned a floating platform on him. Throwing the massive rock down at the one trying to get to the others.

Drake backed away from the two bats when they landed before him. His silver eyes moved inquisitively to the green light in the one's hands. /Fire?/ he thought silently, but he couldn't feel any heat resonating from it. /No, not fire.../ He wasn't sure what the green stuff was, but he certainly didn't like it. "Get away!" he warned, his dagger in one hand. His other hand began glowing a bluish-green color, becoming more vibrant as he charged up energy.

Then, a female cat wearing a blue dress ran in and grabbed one of the bats in the chest. She then used her powers to freeze the blood within its heart, causing his veins to clog shut, giving him a heart attack. She then absorbed the humidity in the air and created a giant ice spear and impaled it in the other. She then screamed "The very underworld hath no fury like MINE!" She said, pulling out an ice sword and attacking the others.

"The time for mercy has passed, your blood will be given up to feed our armies." he hissed before being frozen, the other being stabbed. But by now it seemed the bats were retreating. Heading into portals to evacuate the area, the machines vanishing with the islands falling to the ground now, crushing some of the corpses and the field vanishing. The dead bats burst into flames as the now unshielded sun scorched their bodies.
But something was falling out of the sky, an armored figure slamming into the center of the crater. The heavily augmented armadillo slowly stood up "Forces extracted, cleaning up final remnants." he said turning to the group who had been caught up in this whole ordeal. A voice seemed to whisper in each of their heads now "Fate stands against you, retreat quickly."
The falling islands were making very effective steps up the smooth crater wall.
