The Impact Crater The Impact Crater is a recent development in the Mushroom Hill Zone. The crater is a curious geographic sight... as the edges of the crater are perfect, there is no damage to even a single blade of grass on the very edge of the crater. The crater is a perfect half sphere, with not a single resource left in it. All metal ores are missing, and everything else in the crater now floated off the ground either in the internal area of the crater or above it.
Witnesses that were outside of the crater when it formed a day ago claimed that a tiny light had impacted. Instantly anything in the area of the crater was turned into ash. The earth and rock began to transform into lava before being sucked into the air to form a sphere. All that remained in the crater was ore, Iron, gold, silver, anything composed of a metallic ore. This was quickly picked off by odd robotic drones. Once the ore had been retrieved the molten sphere was detonated and formed the now floating rocks everywhere.
Anyone caught inside the crater even now is found either badly injured or dead. Thrown outside of the crater by an invisible force. Apparently entering the crater is said to relocate you to a new area, those outside the crater can not see anyone inside of it. What could cause such an odd thing? Who or what is responsible? What could still remain in the crater to warrant its protection? |

A female ferret walked around in the forest, enjoying a beautiful day. She was light brown with long, dark-brown hair. She also wore green makeup along with a green shirt and green dye at the tips of her hair. She did not seem like she was from the city. In fact, she mostly hung out in forests, jungles, and swamps. She loved nature and enjoyed landscapes and hated pollution.
She looked around and did some sight-seeing, her teeth bit her lower lip which was covered in green lipstick. She heard rumors about some dangerous areas in the mushroom forest. She tried to think happy thoughts as she continued to walk along, not knowing what lies ahead.

The sound of flapping wings was hardly audible as a black and white dragon glided softly over the tree-tops of the mushroom-infested forest. His silver eyes glanced back and forth, scanning for a particular location in which he had heard so much about during his travels.
To him, the perfectly edged crater sounded like a made-up legend intended to scare little kids out of their wits at the camp-fire. Or perhaps this so-called "deadly crater" was just a protected piece of geography, and the rumor was spread to kept tourists and troublemakers away from it.
Whatever the reason, Drake wasn't scared and he fully intended on investigating. He kept his eyes peeled, knowing that a giant crater would be pretty hard to miss from the air.

The crater would be easy to see once you got close enough to it, it looked like someone had taken an ice cream scoop and left a mark on the earth for all to observe just how fat they were. The crater was miles long, perfectly circular with not a bit of growth or roughness to the edge. It was almost unsettling to see how perfect it was, some would even consider it a sign or an omen. But for now many were just trying to study it without having to enter the crater to face whatever lied within it.
The islands that remained in and above the crater continued to levitate by some unknown means. Anyone who could sense magic would find there was one, but there also didn't appear to be any sort of technology to keep them floating. Gravity itself couldn't be capable of this without some sort of reality bending or deviation from the natural laws that kept the world in one piece.

A green hedgehog, a black bat with light brown hair, and an orange tiger with black stripes were sent out to investigate this crater. "Great, wonder what this could mean?" The hedgehog wondered. they continued exploring, hoping to at least find something interesting. They didn't have any idea what this could mean but they Shelby seemed to not like it so they had to investigate.
"I hope this isn't what I think it is." The bat said as she continued to walk through giant mushrooms. "Well, I'm just hoping it's at least something interesting, I kinda need more action in my life." The tiger said as he looked around, hoping to find something good. The team seemed ready and was willing to get to the bottom of this no matter what it takes.

The dragon discovered before long that he was correct in assuming it would be easy to find. An opening in the trees suddenly revealed the gigantic crater, and Drake slowed down at the sight of it. He hovered in the air for a moment, his wings flapping effortlessly, gazing at the crater with a slightly surprised expression. It certainly wasn't what he expected. The perfectly curved edges couldn't have possibly been man-made, let alone created by nature. The landscape within the crater seemed to behave in some sort of foreign way, completely defying all the laws of physics.
Drake slowly descended, landing on the ground near the edge of the strange phenomenal structure. He still wasn't really afraid of whatever lied within, but he wasn't sure if he wanted to enter it yet. Before, he figured the rumors were nothing but fairy tales, but now, upon seeing the otherworldly nature of the crater in question, he wouldn't be shocked if the stories actually were true.
The last thing he wanted to do was to walk in there and end up in some sort of frozen wasteland in the middle of Antarctica... or be teleported to the moon, or some other incredibly ridiculous location... But he was still curious, and there were many questions left unanswered. He started to wonder what would happen if he just stuck his hand in... or maybe his head.

The group made it to the crater, cautiously keeping their distance from it. "Well, doesn't seem like this could happen naturally. I bet some thing, or some one did this." Spike said as he stared at it, in complete confusion. "Well I hope this thing doesn't cause too much problems, better put some caution tape around this just in case some idiot decides to enter it." Ken said as he grabbed out a pocket forcefield.
Meanwhile, Emerald was still looking around and managed to find the crater. "What in the?-" the ferret was cut off when she tripped and fell in it. She was instantly teleported somewhere else, no one knows where she went.

The crater would be completely empty besides the floating islands when one looked at it from the outside, nothing alive or dead was inside of it. Not even ashes from the animals and plants that had been there when the impact happened that formed the crater. Both observations were fairly believable but at the same time completely out of this world. For what force, natural, supernatural, or artificial could cause such a phenomena.
When Emerald tripped inside, it was like falling through a curtain, suddenly on each of the floating islands would be large towering machines that gave off a brilliant light. In the center of the crater a massive pile of ore and expensive jewels. But this wasn't unattended, surrounding it, managing the odd machines, and now looking at her surprised... was an entire army of black bats, their eyes weren't just red, but there was not a hint of white. Like their entire eyes were composed of blood.
They would take aim at her with guns, some drew swords, many held their hands out and a painful to the eyes green flame would consume them. Each of them wearing armor as black as obsidian, accented with stripes of glowing green energy. Some hissed at her, showing fangs larger than even impressive vampire bats.

Drake had noticed some sort of movement off to the side just as the girl had stumbled into the crater. When he glanced over, he saw the remainder of some stranger disappear into the odd, invisible field. That settled it. The dragon stepped forward to the edge of the crater, glancing down at the perfectly curved side. After a moment, he looked forward toward the island located directly ahead. He took a deep breath, then proceeded to stick only his head in past the edge to see what would happen.

"Oh my gosh! Where am I?" Emerald wondered as she looked around, not noticing all the bats around her. She started to slowly get up and she looked around. "Uh oh... where am I?" She was now worried, she doesn't know where she is and thinks she may never get back. She then saw the bats. "Uhhh, hi..." Emerald was now very scared and she took a few steps back from them.

Drake would if his eyes were not past the field, find that the part of him that entered the field would simply vanish. He could still feel it there, it wasn't sliced off or anything, but vision would not be able to register it anymore. He would be able to though smell the putrid dark magic flames, the smell of the bats, the smell of their blood laced breath.
A group of bats would drop down behind Emerald to flank her, going to grab her arms and two of the group would aim guns at her back "Who. Are. You?" one would ask as he walked up to face Emerald. This bat was wearing a helmet, sculpted to appear like a skull with bat wings that encased his ears.

When his vision went black, he paused for a moment, confused by this. Suddenly a smell of blood and several other nasty smells touched his nostrils, and he drew back in bewilderment. "The hell?" He stood there for a moment, trying to comprehend what just happened, but it only left him with more questions. What was past the barrier? Why couldn't he see anything? What on earth was that smell??? He couldn't handle not knowing. He had to find out...
Drake flew up into the air and hovered there, taking in another deep breath, only this time he held it. He hesitated slightly before proceeding into the crater, remaining alert and prepared for whatever lied on the other side.

"Uhm... h-hi, I'm Emerald th-the ferret." Emerald said nervously. She didn't like the way they appeared at all and was very intimidated. "H-how can I help you?" She looked at them, hoping they wouldn't do anything bad to her.
"Well great, looks like we were too late" Angie said as she noticed the ferret disappear. "Well, let's just wait, if she doesn't come out, we're closing it up." Ken said as he watched the crater. They started waiting as they were growing impatient, wanting to close it off.

"I think the question is. How can we help you? Seeing as you have just interrupted our operation here and put us behind schedule by fifteen point two minutes." the helmeted back told her as he took a knife and leveled it with her chin "There are legends around for a reason, to keep troublesome trash like you out of our operations." he hissed, showing her his massive fangs.
But as soon as Drake appeared, more panic erupted from the bats "We are being flanked!" he snapped. The ones holding Emerald would go to force her to the ground, and this time they didn't stop to welcome Drake kindly. They opened fire instantly, balls of green searing fire flying up at him, bullets going left and right at him. Some bats even took to the air, those with melee weapons of course.
"Thought you could get the drop on us I see." the helmeted one hissed down at her as he clutched his dagger tightly "Once we are done with him... we will teach you the error of your ways."

"What the-- !" Drake quickly swooped downward in a panicked instinct of survival, dodging the bullets as best he could. "Wait, stop! I didn't do anything!!!" he demanded frantically. He barely managed to dodge most of the first set of bullets with his downward drop, however two did hit his left wing, causing him to stagger in the air and descend downward. He landed awkwardly, but quickly regained his footing from the hindered landing. Drake immediately stumbled backwards away from the bats. "What the hell is going on???"
