"If you know me son then you'd know your mother was the complete opposite, so much so that she was able to charm even me." he replied looking back up towards the park that they were approaching foliage dotted the park with tree's a large lake and a bridge connecting one side the other with a large statue of a hedgehog located in the centre of the lake. Shadow kept himself in a default expression and his body language indifferent, but inside memories of his loving wife flashed in his mental eye, remembering the look of her face and her voice, how when they met they hated each other but oddly grew to love each other in the end.

Silver smirked a little, imagining the possibility for anyone to be able to charm this cranky old man. Before he could say anything else, he followed his dad's eye to see what they were looking at. The sight made his eyes widen. The scenery was lovely with its pleasant landscaping and dancing fountains. Upon looking at the shining waters he caught sight of the monument out of the corner of his eye.
"Wo~w," he gasped whimsically, "You weren't kidding." There stood a statue of a hero long passed. The youngling tilted his head, oddly this hedgehog held quite a resemblance to his dad, at least from a distance. With the exception of having a smile and a better looking attitude of course.
"That's the guy you don't like?" Silver had assumed his father's hatred by the way he had always spoken about the blue blur. "If he was so bad why would anyone else like him enough to build a statue of him?" he naively mused.

"Because of his deeds." Shadow simply answered crossing his arms as he looked at Silver and jerked his head towards the park. "Go have some fun, I'll be watching" he said as he began walking towards the bridge, walking over it's length to stop at the middle and lean against the railing to look at the statue with his usual expression on his face
It's been too long since he had been on Angel island, memories of the eggman war flooded his mind, how he had worked with the evil genius and was eventually betrayed then worked for black doom who claimed to be his father but he highly doubted the alien and again was eventually betrayed, and then he worked for G.U.N and was eventually betrayed once more. He had a bad streak with the workforce but he had quite the bank account with the fact he never used any of the money that G.U.N had given him because he had no use for it.
But the human government insisted on paying the black hedgehog and thus the hedgehog had put the money away into an account safe in the Mobian governments hands and while the mobians of New Mobotropolis had a neutral stance where Shadow was concerned, they allowed him to use the funds he had accumulated for what he needed to support his son with food and lodgings wherever they went.

The black hedgehog simply received a stare for his answer. Well if he had his own statue than surely he did some amazing things. Shadows gesture to go play was an invitation that the little hog did not hesitate to take. As the large one walked onto the bridge, the little pale one boldly went to the lake's edge, despite his specie's aversion to water.
"Why would they put a hedgehog on the water..." he mused to himself, referring to the hero's statue that was place in the middle of the lake. Slowly, he sat himself down and swirled the water with his hand, giving it a good splash, but the youngster knew better than to actually get in. How odd... through the ripples in the water's surface he could swear that he saw something under the water. As he strained to see if his eyes were deceiving him or not, he was sure of it; he saw something shining.
With a quick look over his shoulder to glance at his father idly gazing at something from the bridge, he looked right back into the water. The shining... was gone? Bah, maybe it really was just his imagination. He slumped over, positioning himself on his belly and rested his head on one hand while he splashed the water with the other.
This was a park, right? Where the heck were all the people at then... Just then a wave just big enough to engulf his entire body washed over him. The little hedgehog that was left laying on the ground after the assault was stunned and prickled to the maximum, looking mighty waterlogged.

Shadows eyes moved over towards his son who he saw was quite wet, raising an eyebrow he made his way over crossing his arms as he stared down at Silver "What did you do?" he asked as he gazed down at him, he felt a strange twinge though not too long ago as if he sensed something strange but familiar but he ignored it as he looked down almost scornfully at his son who was silly enough to get himself wet despite his warnings of water and how their kinds biggest enemy was water itself, not even the ultimate life form could swim and preferred to stay perfectly dry.
Making a quick glance of their surroundings to see if anyone else were here his gaze quickly went back to his son albeit a bit more scornful.

Silver shook himself free of the water after snapping out of his daze, the noise from his quills shaking against one another audible. Upon hearing the familiar low voice he looked over his shoulder at the old hedgehog, only supporting himself on his hands and knees.
The expression on the elder's face looked about as dark as his spines, threatening him as if he had gotten in trouble. "W-what? I didn't do anything!..I think.." Odd, poltergeist type occurrences had happened around Silver a couple occasions, and he was just starting to wonder if he just had bad luck.
"I just wanted a closer look at the statue! And I saw something in the water I think, and..." he trailed off, starting to doubt if his dad would even care for anything that was just said.

Shadows eyes narrowed at his sons sentence "Do you have any idea how foolish you sound?" he asked as he kept his arms crossed before he looked towards the lake with his eyes still narrowed "You saw something in the water?" he asked as he thought back to the tinge he felt not long ago "Do you think you could point me in the direction of it?" he added, he had learned after a while that when he senses something, it is something interesting, and the fact his son had seen something it caught his curiosity, he didn't want to get wet let alone step into the water but his he had to trust his instincts.

Silver's expression flattened at being called foolish. It sounded like his father wasn't taking anything he said seriously, but he knew what he saw. The boy sighed before hearing the question from the older hedgehog, brightening his expression to know that his dad actually did care about what he had to say.
"Ah! Yeah!" he said confidently, though that confidence waned when asked to point out what he had seen. The boy had only seen the shine for a moment before loosing track of it, but he quickly scanned the water, trying to remember. With a worried expression, he looked about ready to give up, but an idea perked him right back up. It was then he hesitantly scooted up to the water and swirled it with his hand just as he did before, hoping that it would help since that's what he had been doing when he saw it initially.
"There!" A gleam deep in the water was spotted just as before. He pointed his little finger in the direction, "There! Do you see it?" he did not take his eyes off it even as he spoke to the other hedgehog.

Shadow nodded and waded into the water breathing air deeply into his lungs and holding it as he went down, oddly enough hedgehogs were not buoyant and sank like rocks every time they fell into water and the black hedgehog had experience in underwater situations often his shoes were able to propel him when he needed the extra boost.
He walked through the murky water making for the shimmer that he himself also saw along with his child, he usually wouldn't do something like this but he couldn't stand looking at that hurt look on silver's face

Silver watched in utter surprise as his father descended into the water, grasping the grass as if he felt like he were going to sink in too. He strained to keep an eye on the dark hedgehog as his quills began to blend into the depths. The boy looked a bit worried, even for his dad who he knew could handle himself in any situation.
But still... he did not know what he had seen in the water, nor did he know exactly what splashed him, as the lake was completely still and did not have an ebb or flow to create any waves or splashes on its own. Against better judgement, the hoglet leaned forward and slid his face into the water, hoping to get a better look at what was going on.

Shadow was running out of air quickly narrowing his eyes and peering through the murky depths he reached out for the glimmering object, grabbing a hold and quickly turning and walking out exhaling loudly he coughed a little bit taking a seat next to his son as he opened his hand with the object.
he rubbed his eyes as his fur was muddy and dirty thanks to the murky depths, he'd need to have a shower when they got to a hotel, the fact he even went into the water confused him slightly making him wander why he did it, but he quickly deduced that his son had something to do with it and he quickly decided he'd have to change that quickly in the future.

Silver flinched from the back-splash he received from his father getting out of the water.. not that his own fur had dried anyways, but more water certainly didn't help. Afterward he watched as the large hog placed himself beside him, uncurling his fingers from the object he sacrificed clean fur and a little dignity for.
The object was shiny, but it also emanated a dull yellow glow. It appeared to be some sort of shard encased in a device of unknown, glass-like material. There was no doubt that this is a chaos drive to those who are familiar with it, but the little hedgehog had no idea what it could be.
"Hey, what's that?" he asked in a very general manner rather than directly at his dad.

Shadows eyebrows raised as he realised what the object was "That's a Chaos drive...crystallized Chaos Energy that is usually contained in these devices. They are usually power sources for robots...But I've used them for the Chao in the past...That improves the swimming ability" he shook his head "I got hundreds of these things back in the day, may be worth something today since Eggmans empire is no more now but...Keep it as a keep-sake Silver one day you may come upon a Chao and you can use it" he said as he handed it to his son and stood up, brushing mud off his body as he moved to one side to shake himself down from the water.

"Chao..?" Silver may not exactly know what a chao is, but he pushed that thought to the back of his head a he felt something was suspicious. "Why would we notice it out of all the other people who actually live here?"
Where chaos drives really so invaluable others had noticed it and just not cared? He was jolted from his thoughts when he was given the drive, being shocked by some kind of energy upon touching it. Hissing inwardly, the boy jumped to his feet and tossed it out of his hands as if it had just burned him, the object landing flat into the grass. Upon inspecting his hands and shaking them a little he concluded that they were ok.
The jolt that was dealt to him did not seem electric in nature, as his father told him would be used in robots. That jolt was a pure energy that just seeped into flesh. What was with this thing? It didn't have that effect on his old man, so did he just touch it wrong?
"Are you sure that's all there is to this thing?" he said before putting a finger in his mouth as if it'd help the tingling.

"It's not like the chaos emeralds, I wouldn't be able to use it, you wouldn't be able to use it...At least not to my knowledge." he replied looking back at his son "However they're mainly used in...The robots that the enemy uses, keep it if you want but I wouldn't be able to even use Chaos control with that thing." he added. He had not thought on the subject of his son inheriting his chaos abilities, let alone explain to him what the chaos emeralds were or the fact that he had immense chaos energy inside of him and had to wear his inhibitors at all times. "If you want to know more about Chaos Emerald and Energy, ask me later during a practise session we may exercise your brain a little sometime."
