There have been disturbances throughout the Mystic Ruins:
Violent tremors but no earthquakes, various types of plant life dying through strange causes.
Coal has been set out to figure out what's going on and to hopefully fix the issue.
Coal was strolling through the swamp, "Jeez.....not only is it uncomfortably humid....but so far I'm not making an progress on figuring out what the hell is going on here.." sighing in disappointment he continues to trek through the rough terrain.

Doug too was sent out, but him by the G.U.N. Commander, Nicholas, to find out what was going on as well to see what may be going on and fix or even assist in fixing said issue.
Doug arrived in Mystic Ruins and headed to where he was told to go, coincidentally around where Coal was, in the swamp. "Finally, he actually gave me something to do for once. Hahah, sucks I was sent out alone though but hey, people are busy a lot nowadays. So I gotta find out about some strange disturbances in Mystic Ruins it seems... I don't think I've been here in a long time. But it sure does feel a lot warmer in this swamp area." Doug just kept on talking to himself as he unzipped his jacket and held it over his shoulder, looking around for any suspicious activity or for anyone else while wiping off some sweat from his forehead.

A male hedgehog, appeared to be infested with some disease which made most of his skin and fur pitch black, appeared to be looking for something. "Where could it be?" Pitch wondered. "Ah great, it must've sank in the swamp." He kept looking around anyways.

As coal continued to trudge through the swamp, a large tremor occurred through the immediate area. Coal raised an eyebrow, "One of those tremors again...." he said to himself as he now started running ahead to find the source.

Spike and Angie found a ship in the middle of the swamp, they looked through the window to see if anyone was in it. "Well It looks like it's empty." Spike said as he took his eyes off the window. "Looks like we could use it." Angie replied. "Perhaps." Spike looked at it again.

Doug felt the tremor, nearly losing his balance. "Damn it, there it goes again. I gotta trace the source and fast!" Doug quickly slipped back on and partially zipped up his jacket, he then flashed with a faint white aura and then zoomed off at high speeds toward where it was coming from.

The couple felt it as well. "Ah great let's go see what's going on." Spike said as he ran towards where it came from. Angie followed.

This is no way to treat a lady...
Symph felt like she had been wandering the musty swamp for hours. Her clothes-which had just been washed, to make matters worse-were absolutely filthy from the muck and grime of the Mystic Ruins. And to top it off-her hair's natural curl was coming undone and falling into her face! She scrunched up her nose and trudged through the mud.
"Ugg... this is disgusting..." she mumbled as she attempted to pull her foot out of a deeper spot of mud. The only reason she was here was because there was suspicious and unnatural activity happening, which was usually the work of a demon. Now, she was doubting that. Everything was mud, dirt, leaves, rocks, and more mud. "I hate this so much..." Symph bit her bottom lip, refraining herself from "unladylike swearing".
The mud began to ripple, and a tremor erupted from the ground. Symph screeched, flailing her arms in a failed attempt to keep her balance, before falling onto her back in the mud. As soon as it started, the tremor came to a halt. She let out another screech.
"This is sooooooo gross!"

Then, as Spike and Angie made it to the tremor, they suddenly found themselves waist-deep in trouble. They were sinking fast in the mud and the more they panicked, the faster they sank. "Oh no!" Angie screamed. "Please, no no no NO!" She struggled. "Please, struggling will only make it worse." Spike reassured. "I think this might be... the end." He said sadly. Angie held Spike's hands. "At least we'll die together." They both kissed, they were now chest-deep in muck.

In an unintentional mishap, A lightblue blur, being Doug obviously, went on by Symph, knocking some mud up in the air but it surprisingly missed her. "Hm... Could of sworn I thought I saw someone, must of just been all the colors of the jungle and the blur playing tricks on me." He slowed down a little and looked around just in case, he wasn't that much farther away so he could be caught.

A nearby tree started to fall towards Coal who dodges it quickly, "what the.." He looks up to see a large mechanized Mole with drills for claws.
The large mechanized Mole shattered through the ground, causing another tremor.
"So you're what's causing all this destruction!" Coal shouts, snapping his fingers causing his flames to be engulfed by fire.

The mud had just managed to miss her, but it didn't stop the fact that Symph was still covered in a thick, slimy heap of it. She managed to get a good look at it-a light blue hedgehog with a darker jacket, at what seemed like faster than sound itself.
"Hey!" Symph shouted, "Watch where you're going, you idiot!" Going to strangle the hedgehog like she had mentally planned would be impossible, due to the mud, so she scanned the jungle. The hedgehog was nearby, looking around as if he had heard a noise.
Symph lifted her left hand above her head, focusing her ability on her ring. A deep blue vortex appeared overhead, grasping a sturdy tree branch, and pulling her from the mud. As her dress dripped with the muck, she heaved herself up, then focused on the hedgehog. It only took a matter of seconds to get from the muddy terrain below to the heights above, but the hedgehog still hadn't spotted her. "Yeah, I'm talking to you!" she shouted at him. Her temper had risen a considerable amount since she entered the Mystic Ruins...

Doug blinked at the sudden shout toward him. "Hm..!" Doug turned around, looking wherever she was. "Oh hello there, apparently I'm not alone in this mess. Heheh." He chuckled slightly. "You here looking at bizarre things going on too?" Doug began walking backwards toward the destination everyone was most likely heading towards.
